Low Budget, High Impact: The Modular Framing System

By Miguel Peguero on May 2, 2025

Unique. Exciting. Different. Unexpected. Unforgettable. These are just a few things our clients say when we ask how they want their events to feel. But it’s also followed by the same caveat – it has to be budget friendly.

Custom backdrops, LED frames, displays in unusual shapes and used in unique ways, and entirely custom decorative elements are often seen as the key to creating an atmosphere that wows attendees the moment they walk in the room. These displays, whether they’re displaying graphics and video content, making a tradeshow booth standout, or creating a unique attendee touchpoint, naturally draw attention exactly where you want it, making it no mystery why organizations are so eager to use them.

Of course, once they see the initial quote for a custom build and how long it takes to build one, they start singing a different tune.

While it’s true that these wow-worthy custom displays have a price tag to match their impact and require more planning time than many organizations have, it is possible to get the same result for a fraction of the price.

Modular Framing Systems are a lightweight, flexible alternative that allows us to create highly customizable, one-of-a-kind displays with the same possibilities and impact as a traditional custom build without the same investment or lead time required.

What it is.

Modular Framing Systems use a variety of reusable components to create display frames for any size, shape, and application needed. With the ability to hold a wide variety of weights, the system is designed to be used with LED panels, fabric, decorative elements, or a combination of all three.

The system can be used as a traditional display for visuals during general sessions, but with increased flexibility in size and shape, or for more unique applications throughout the venue. 3D fixtures, like cubes, can be built with LED panels on every side of it; rounded structures, like curved tunnels, can display flashy graphics as attendees walk through them; custom booths for tradeshows can be built with a-typical layouts, displays, or even desks that function as LED screens.

The uses for the system are truly endless because of how much flexibility there is. Modular Framing Systems make 3D branding, display walls, photo backdrops, interactive flooring, tunnels, archways, multi-story displays, and more completely attainable, allowing you to unlock your creativity when designing your event.

How it Works.

The process is as quick as it is simple. A client tells us what they have in mind and we create a 3D rendering that accounts for all necessary specifications like dimension, weight of the frame, how much weight it will need to hold, and where it will be located.

We share this rendering with our client, and if there are any requested changes, we easily adjust the rendering until it’s exactly what they’re picturing. From the final rendering, we’ll be able to determine exactly what components are needed to build the frame, as well as the specs for whatever the frame will hold.

Time Efficient.

The beauty of this system is that nothing needs to be built in advance of the event’s load-in. After the rendering is approved and we know what components are needed to build and fill it, we pack the necessary pieces. The framing system is then set up during the event’s load-in along with the rest of the equipment and staging. This fast set up means the system can be deployed and a custom look can be achieved on incredibly quick time-frames, unlike the custom builds which take months to create.

After the event, the framing system is taken down along with the rest of the event’s equipment and stored until it is used for another event. This differs drastically from a traditional custom display, where the organization is responsible for finding a way to transport and store the display, or destroy it.

Cost Effective.

One of the biggest draws of this system is how cost effective it is, especially when compared to traditional custom builds. The reason for this is simple: the components that make up the stage can be used over and over again in different designs and configurations. Unlike with custom builds, where materials are only being used once, this system is incredibly sustainable which reduces waste and spend.

The quick installation also means far less money is being spent on labor for a display that, realistically, is only going to be used once.

Where a completely custom design built traditionally often costs at least six-figures, a Modular Framing System is usually a fraction of the cost, saving organizations tens of thousands of dollars. This in and of itself is a huge amount of money saved – but for groups hosting several events a year, the difference grows exponentially.

Pre-designed Looks that Feel Custom.

Many organizations may want something unique but don’t know where to start, or know they want an interesting display, but don’t have any pre-determined specifications in mind.

Our team has created a catalogue of predesigned looks to help clients imagine how a Modular Framing System can transform their events. If they want to use one of these looks or draw inspiration from them, they can select the style they like and the size they need. Our team is then able to give an estimate instantaneously.
